This post was, of course, inspired by the light fixture above (seen on Etsy) - one ugly cord, a bulb and a few old books. Not so hard to do if you're interested in trying a little bookfolding. Anyway, it got me looking for other cool ways to hide ugly cords ... and otherwise upcycle ugly old lamps. Five more for you:

It's as easy as it looks. The remodelista DIY doesn't include any attempt to make it bend like this. I think threading light-gauge wire through the beads would do the trick.
This project calls for a cheap base from target. I think a cheap base from a thrift store (or your attic/basement/storage unit) is a better starting point. Then, glue on the found wood. Again, it really is as easy as it looks.
