Simple and Creative Ways To Add Color to Your Home

Paint the front door

Why not wow visitors before they even set foot in the house? Your front door is the portal to your home, and it should be inviting and welcoming—and nothing is more welcoming than a warm entry. Painting the front door not only spruces up curb appeal but also reflects a well-kept inside. A darker color such as navy blue, black, or forest green indicates a sophisticated style. Yellow and red are bold choices that are sure to grab attention. Pink is whimsical and fun. Whatever color you choose, it's sure to make you happy every time you unlock the door.

Add colorful kitchen appliances

I’m not saying you have to go out and purchase a red refrigerator, but the next time you're shopping for an appliance, consider picking up a yellow toaster or a blue kettle! It's a simple and creative way to add color to your home. This colorful appliance trend started in Europe, but has finally caught on in the US.

If you’re in the market for major appliances, considering a navy blue oven isn’t a bad idea. Going with black slate rather than plain stainless steel will also add variety to your kitchen.

Enhance kitchen cabinets

I’m here to inform you that your kitchen cabinets don’t have to be white, wooden, or dark-colored. It’s time we added color to our cabinets to brighten up the kitchen! You can paint them any color, whether bright or subdued. You can even paint the top and bottom cabinets in different colors, but make sure they match. Painting cabinets yourself isn’t difficult, but you can also hire a professional.

Re-cover or paint your furniture

An excellent way to add new life to an older piece of furniture is to repaint or reupholster it. It’s environmentally friendly, and you’re salvaging something you already have. For example, if you have an older couch or sofa with a few stains but that’s still structurally sound, adding a new slipcover can benefit the piece immensely. These ideas are perfect for adding pops of color to your space.
