Whew ... we did it! Here's the DIY Rosie the Riveter toddler costume.
Saw the idea in a magazine and thought it looked comfortable for a squiggly 15 month old! Thrift store shirt and jacket, a "du-rag" from Jo-Ann's and a couple of pins from Zazzle.com. Total: $9.
Last year, my 4 month old got to be a bookworm for Halloween. Now she walks and kinda talks and has some very definite opinions about things. So now what?? It's going to be handmade. And it's going to be simple. If I can pull it off, I'll post pics ... (update: here they are!)

I don't advocate going out to buy plastic piping to make this wreath. But if you see it being thrown out, what a great way to upcycle it! Besides loving how this looks, I also love that it would be versatile from year to year. You could easily change the ornaments, colors etc.

I sat at a craft fair last week and watched $20 mass-produced versions of these head wraps fly out the door ... they were polyester yarn and really chintzy. But they also looked surprisingly good on everyone!
I did not try one on, but wondered about dusting off the knitting needles and making one for myself. Gotta say, I'd much rather sew one, especially if there's an upcycle opportunity in there too! So thanks to Delia Creates for the super-simple tutorial via Prudent Baby.
So I'm back, I think. My life has been full of unexpected busy-ness the last week or so, but hopefully things will be calmer between now and Xmas. I have sworn to make ALL my Xmas presents this year so I have my work cut out for me. Arg ...
